Impact Modifier

An impact modifier is an additive blended with PVC to improve its toughness and resistance to impact. By incorporating rubbery or elastomeric polymers, the modifier enhances the material’s flexibility and durability. This results in a less brittle and more resilient PVC, ideal for applications requiring resistance to stress and impact, such as pipes, fittings, and consumer goods. The impact modifier helps PVC withstand harsh conditions and extend the lifespan of products.

Types of Lubricants

1. Acrylic Impact Modifier: They provide excellent impact efficiency and guarantee outstanding weatherability and durability for outdoor applications. Moreover, they have a wide process window for good processing flexibility. The main applications are window profiles, sidings, pipes, and furniture sheets.

2. MBS Impact Modifier: They add excellent impact efficiency to the end product in opaque to crystal-clear applications and are suitable for use in food and pharmaceutical packaging. Typical MBS impact modifier applications are sheets, food-packaging film, bottles, pharmaceutical blister packs, pipes and fittings.
